My Nightly Craving

Every night, before I go to sleep; I have the same craving...spicy food. It all started when I had tried my boyfriends moms spicy Italian stuffed shells about a week ago. Since then, I cant get the flavor out of my mind. I toss and turn, wishing I could have just one more bite. Since then, I try and make up for it by having other spicy food.( I had delicious pad Thai tonight...YUM!). However, in the back of my mind I still think of those shells. I fear the craving will only get worse with time. I fantasize about having a whole platter to myself. I even pictured myself bribing his mom to give me shells when ever I want them. They were that good!!!
Sneaked one for a photo...Best part?...
I got to eat it afterward

The Feel of a Good Book

Working with my hands is definitely one of the perks of being an artist. I enjoy the feel of the brush on the canvas, the way the brush fits in my hands and even how paint somehow finds its way on my clothes.               However, what I hadn't noticed until now, was that this also transfers to other aspects of my life. For instance, reading a book. I love the way the book feels as I run my finger tips from line to line, the musty smell of the glued binding, and even the little notes left behind in an old book. I almost feel like so much of this is taken for granted these days with the introduction of electronic readers. Yes, they are fast and you can store tons of books in one single device. Plus lets face it, you are reading the exact same book..... However...are you really? To me, the experience itself is totally different. Maybe I'm just a traditionalist.... but, what I'm wondering is ...Does anyone else miss the real thing?...

Ninja Monkey!!

I'm not sure where he came from, or why he's been creeping in my house the past couple days, but hes been getting into everything:
I first found him trying to attack my new rhinestone rings made from re-purposed fabric scraps. Don't worry though I stopped him before he did!
Then I found him trying to camouflage himself in some flowers. I don't think he realized they were my new felt flower hair pins!

Lucky for me I have super vision and spotted him before he really did any harm. However, one has to wonder where he will turn up next. .........Until next time ninja monkey!!

the taming of the "wrist monsters"

I used to dislike bracelets. I know its bad...a jewelry designer that hates bracelets. However, to me they were little monsters disguised in a pretty package. They either did one of two things: ...swallow your wrist or strangle your arm. Not to mention they grab on to everything and rip tons of tights daily. So you can imagine how difficult it was when my friends asked me to make bracelets with them. I was torn between two sides!...Of course I LOVE CRAFTING!! Anything that has to do with making stuff.. I'm there! ...how could I not jump on the opportunity? however, one thing still remained... Could I get over the fact I had to make something I hated?
In the end I decided to go, but swore to myself  I was going to make something else. However, when I got there, I thought, "why not? Everyone else is enjoying bracelets...why can't I?" It turns out I actually had fun. While everyone was making stretchy bracelets, I got an idea... Ribbon! These are two of the bracelets that came out of the bead-athon with my friends. Bracelets my way...soft and comfy. I guess Bracelets really aren't that bad.

the mysterious banana jam

This should be a story about how I found a delicious new product I can't live without.. although this is true...that is only part of the story.... It begins in a market me and my friend Ashley found just a few days ago. It just so happened to be the only place open one night, in a little town near my house. We needed an interesting gift for our friend Kate and for some reason...the banana jam caught my eye. Ok...ok... I know why it did...it sounded crazy awesome. Something you just had to try ...just because. We even asked the owner about it. Not knowing much, She told us it was a new item and it wasn't very popular.
Being the banana lovers we are, we still bought it...But...it was Kate's birthday, so.. we ended up just getting her one. At her party, I also got an opportunity to try it. It was amazing...banana bread in a jar and lets face it...all of our minds traveled to banana land and back. We even came up with our own perfect way to use it...mine was on top of banana bread. Double the banana flavor!!!
Afterward, I just knew I had to have some for myself. I went back the next day, only to find the jam missing and a different flavor in its place. There was also a different guy behind the desk. I questioned him...he looked in the back...but it was gone. He even replied, "it must be a popular item". WHAT?...it wasn't last night..!!! there was eight jars of it!!.Someone must have overheard us raving about it!! This was the only conclusion I could come to. Well....that.. and the owner lied and wanted a secret stash for herself. I just couldn't wrap my mind around it...where did it go?...why was this the only place around that sold it? ( believe me I checked) and Will I ever get any more of its sweet banana goodness?
...the quest for the mysterious banana jam continues...

the easter pickle

Hmmm...pickles?...Easter?...I guess they kinda fit. Deviled eggs are definitely not as delicious without them...but...pickles... on Easter cards?...
On my recent trip through the card aisle I couldn't help laughing when I saw it.... A pickle dressed as a bunny...now I really have seen everything. however as a person who appreciates pickles... I just had to have it. Is this the start of a pickle card fad?...one can only hope so...

my flea market escapades

I have been starting to go to a flea market near my house every week now. I guess u can say I look forward to it. After being stuck indoors yesterday because of a massive rain storm...I thought for sure it wouldn't be open. However, when I woke up this morning... it was!! When i arrived... the ground was soggy and damp. However, I didn't let it bother me...There's just something about walking with your knees on blue tarps, that's really kinda fun. They also made it super easy to rummage. Yes... I am a rummager. I love digging through dirty old boxes in search of hidden treasures. Don't worry though.. I do wear gloves.

On today's trip,  I found a pretty lemon dipping bowl and a pair of blue earrings  (I cant wait to re- purpose). However, just when I was getting into my groove, it started to rain..down pour style. So.. I took what treasures I had found and went to pay. The man asked me three dollars for everything...so i offered him two and a half. I don't know if it was the rain or the silly grin on my face ...but he gave in and let me have everything for 2 dollars! I'd say I did pretty well! The funniest part though, was that it actually stopped raining just when I drove away. I was soaked....but...I had fun and I can't wait until next week!

how i met your mother

Alright...so this show has been on for a while...However.. I only recently stumbled upon it. No surprise... there was nothing good on TV. My usual channels failed me...bravo and the food network...so I resorted to flipping. I guess it is possible to get bored of the housewives of whatever and diners, drive ins, and dives. However... I'm not complaining.....I found my new favorite show... I just finished watching the first season and I'm addicted. Whenever I'm in a bad mood or just need a quick pick me up... I pop it in. I guess there is like 6 seasons or something....so I have plenty of good entertainment ahead of me. Cant wait to see what happens next!

toothpaste love affair

You are probably wondering why I wrote a blog post about tooth paste. Well...this product was truly that amazing... I have been having severe gum and tooth pain for a long time. Not knowing the cause..I started doing research... After reading an article about the harmful affects of toxins in toothpaste..like fluoride, sodium lauryl and parabens. I decided to make a switch. I chose an all natural tooth paste by Natures Gate. It has pomegranate, aloe, white tea, and bisabobol among others. With in one use I started to see results...Instantly I was pain free! They were also super shiny.Basically, my teeth have finally found peace!..and I have fallen for Natures Gate creme de peppermint! Im not saying... change your tooth paste...but definitely educate yourself on what you are brushing your teeth with...they say.... do not swallow for a reason!

wedding blues, summer hues

Ok, so I'm going to a beautiful outdoor wedding in May. The only draw back.... I have to wear gray and black....boooo!.. It's not that I don't like black or gray...most of my wardrobe consists of these. I'ts just that...In my search for the perfect black dress...I kept getting distracted with color! Have you seen the cute dresses out for spring?!...Why would I want to wear black, when I can wear pretty florals?. So... I decided to give in to these brightly patterned beauty's, and put the black, back on the rack. These are some of my favorite picks!...I found all of these at www.forever21.com

I heart Spacey Tracy's

I was pleasantly surprised when my brother brought home a jar of Spacey Tracy's pickles. I am a huge pickle fan, so new pickles are definitely exciting to me! However when i tried these...I could not stop eating them...So far i have had one with every single meal...For some reason they go really good with chicken soup. These garlicky dills are sweet and tangy at the same time ,they are packed with flavor, and given the opportunity..I will probably finish off the jar. I also love that on the bottom there is huge pieces of garlic and herbs. You can really see the dill!.
Spacey Tracey's is also a small business! She started out in her own kitchen pickling for her family and friends right in Rhinebeck! Granted these are a little more pricey then your average store bought brand,( he got them 2 for 10 dollars) However, they are not average. I can not wait to try her other flavors!....She can be currently found at Adams, Red Hook IGA, Williams Lumber, and local farm markets. If you are a pickle fan def give these a try. Support small businesses!

My cute recipe book

The Borders near me is closing :( However, before they did, i bought myself a really cute recipe book....It's blank so u can put all your bests in one place!..super convenient! The best part though is definitely the food drawings! For a person who is artsy and finds cooking fun..this made it even more fun. In the back, it has a matching pouch...not to mention a really cute onion key chain!..It was made by Paperchase, a company located in the UK and (if you don't have a borders near you), can be found online at www.paperchase.co.uk. They make everything from paper products to home goods and office products. Not to mention handbags and really cute umbrellas!...I love how graphic and colorful they make everything. If you love cute stuff or searching for a perfect gift, definitely check out their website... After visiting it myself... I was def glad I had left my purse in the other room! i wanted everything!
